Model of a Bernal Sphere. Population: 10,000. The Bernal Sphere is a point design with a spherical living area. In the 1970s, three space colony summer studies were conducted at NASA Ames Research Center. Artistic concepts were designed and rendered for colonies housing about 10,000 people. Space colonization is permanent human habitation off the planet Earth. No space colonies have been built so far.
