German Renaissance ceiling and wall painting, (1898). 'Fig 1: Spandril on wall compartments. Fig 2: Panel in a window flanning. Figs 3 and 4: Decorations of columns. Fig 5: Decoration on the window parapets. Figs 6 and 7: Middle and corner pieces at the friezes bordering the wall compartments. Figs 8-11: Decoration on the ceiling beams with relief wood rosettes and knos [knots?]. Fig 12: Wooden hood moulding. The whole from the golden hall at Urach [Urach Residential Palace, Bad Urach, Baden-Württemberg]'. The Golden Hall was designed for the wedding of Duke Eberhard im Bart to Italian princess Barbara Gonzaga of Mantua in 1474. It was lavishly redecorated in the 17th century. Plate 78 from "The Historic Styles of Ornament" translated from the German of H. Dolmetsch. [B.T. Batford, London, 1898].
