THE QUEEN'S BEASTS FOR ABBEY ANNEXE. Mr James Woodford, RA, at work in his studio in Hammersmith today on the model of the Lion of England which will stand guard at the Royal entrance to the Annexe of Westminster Abbey for the Coronation. It is one of the ten Queen's Beasts taken from the hereldic devices used by the Her Majesty's ancestors, and which will form part of the decorative scheme of the Coronation Annexe to Westminster Abbey. The lion wears the authentic expression of that "ferocious loyalty". 6 February 1953.
