In the sky there are about 6,000 stars visible to the naked eye, grouped into 88 constellations. It is impossible to see all of the constellations from any one spot on the globe. However, some of the constellations from each hemisphere can be seen from the equator. This is why some constellations in the Southern Hemisphere can also be seen in the Northern Hemisphere, and vice versa.
