Handkerchief of batist with three flower branches in each corner made in shadow work and around a border of Flanders lace, Handkerchief of natural-colored batist with embroidery and a border of bobbin lace: Flanders lace. The embroidery is in the corners and along the edges. There are three flower branches in each corner, flanked by two smaller ones. A large calyx in two corners between branches with forget-me-nots. In the other corners a large rosette flower between finer branches with carnations. The angled opposite corners are the same. Along the entire side runs a regularly flowing stream of openwork forget-me-nots and vine leaves. The edge bobbin lace is smooth along the sides and wrinkled in the corners to the handkerchief. It has a repeating pattern with two broad symmetrical compositions. One composition consists of a rosette flower under an arch on the underside. The other composition consists of a cloud on the underside from which a heart-shaped flower originates between two leaves. The compositions are completed by a volute leaf along the top of the strip, from which a split branch points downwards, with a fan-shaped flower and a rosette flower. The motifs are made in linen with openwork edges and some cut-outs. The motifs are connected by a five-hole ground. Snowflake soil was used as decorative ground. The shell edge along the bottom comes from the pattern is finished with picots., anonymous, West-Europa, c. 1840 - c. 1860, cotton (textile), Flanders lace, l 65 cm × w 65 cm w 3 cm ×, 17.5 cm.
