'Scene after "Rough Riders" Battle, June 24th', Spanish-American War, Cuba, 1898, (1899). In the foreground are the bodies of Sergeant Hamilton Fish and Private Stevens of the 1st United States Volunteer Cavalry, killed in the Battle of Las Guasimas. Behind them is a meeting of US officers and war correspondents: journalist Richard Harding Davis, General Henry Ware Lawton, General Leonard Wood, and (future president) Lieutenant Colonel Theodore Roosevelt. From "The Little I saw of Cuba" by Burr McIntosh, with photographs by the author. (In 1898, American actor and journalist William Burr McIntosh went to Cuba to cover the Spanish-American War for "Leslie's Weekly" as a reporter and photographer). [F.
