Oskar Minkowski, German Physician

Oskar Minkowski (1858-1931) was a German physician and physiologist known for his research on diabetes. Minkowski and Josef von Mering discovered in 1889 that removing the pancreas in dogs induced diabetes. They were able to show that the pancreas contained regulators that controlled blood sugar.
