Titel:
Medieval Inquisition, Water Torture
Medieval torture methods, devices and instruments were used to inflict the deliberate, systematic, cruel and wanton infliction of physical and mental suffering. There were no laws or rules to protect the treatment of prisoners who faced torture. Torture was seen as a totally legitimate means for justice to extract confessions, obtain the names of accomplices, obtain testimonies or confessions. A person undergoing water torture was tied to a board which was supported horizontally on two trestles. By means of a horn, acting as a funnel, their nose was pinched to force them to swallow, the victim is forced to drink copious amounts of water until their confession or death.
