Design for a ceiling-painting, Netherlands, (1928). 'Beginning of 18th Century... Daniel Marot [1661-1752, born in Paris] had to flee to Amsterdam in 1685 owing to the revocation of the Edict of Nantes. He worked there till after 1718. In 1686 he was appointed architect to William III. of Orange and also worked later in England. After about 1700 his pattern-books were published and were of great influence'. After an aquarelle pen-and-ink drawing.
