At the top, Christ, enthroned amongst three circles of angels welcomes her into the highest circle of Heaven. Figures kneeling on the ground are Matteo Palmieri (left), a Florentine civil servant, and his wife Niccolosa (right). Originally the altarpiece in Palmieri's chapel in San Pier Maggiore, Florence, today the painting is in the National Gallery, London.
