R.A.F. Bomber Command Attacks U-Boat Pens At Brest In daylight on August 5, aircraft of R.A.F. Bomber Command attacked the U-boat pens at Brest. Out of the sixteen aircraft taking part in the operation, five of them obtained direct hits with 12,000 pound bombs. It is estimated that the near misses obtained by the remaining aircraft would have set up a tidal wave thus undermining the structure of the U-boat pens.
