Queen Henrietta Maria of France (1609-1669) by John Hoskins, the Elder (1590-1665)

Queen Henrietta Maria of France (1609-1669). Henrietta was the youngest daughter of King Henri IV of France and Marie de Medici. Her marriage to Charles, Prince of Wales, required a special dispensation from the Pope because it was the first time that a Catholic princess had married a Protestant prince. It was a move towards an alliance between France and England against Spain. By John Hoskins the Elder (1590-1665) English miniature painter.
