Feng Shui, Early Heaven Sequence

The Early Heaven Sequence of trigrams on a 19th century tailsman was used in Feng Shui to ward off evil influences. The Fu Xi Bagua, also know as the Earlier Heaven or Former Heaven Sequence is derived from the Ho Tu. The Former Heaven Sequence is the cosmic ideal while the Later Heaven Sequence is its earthly application. The tiger symbolizes the west. Its corresponding trigram is K'an. Feng Shui is a Chinese philosophical system of harmonizing everyone with the surrounding environment. It is closely linked to Daoism. Feng shui is one of the Five Arts of Chinese Metaphysics, classified as physiognomy (observation of appearances through formulas and calculations). The feng shui practice discusses architecture in metaphoric terms of "invisible forces" that bind the universe, earth, and humanity together, known as qi. A talisman is an object which is believed to contain certain magical properties which would provide good luck for the possessor or possibly offer protection from evil or harm.
