Anubis tending mummy. Chromolithograph by E. A. Phipson, based on artwork located in the tomb of Sennedjem, Thebes, Egypt. Sennedjem was an artisan who decorated royal tombs in the Theban Necropolis. Anubis, also known as Anpu, is the Egyptian god of the dead and is represented as a man with a jackal's head. He is especially involved with embalming and care of the dead.
