Entrando desde la Plaza de la Marina en el lateral izquierdo después del...

MONUMENT TO D. CARLOS LARIOS..-Entering from the Plaza de la Marina on the left side after the Monument to Arturo Reyes. This is in honor of the Marquis of Guadiaro, architect of the Larios family in the works of this Park and Larios street. The environment was adapted by the architect Guerrero-Strachan and is the work of Mateu Fernández de Soto from 1907. It has a stone plinth with a staircase that served as a fountain, above it a pedestal with allegorical motifs of commerce, industry, and Malaga and crowning the bronze bust. The monument was very daring due to the allegorical presence of a naked woman. The peculiar execution of the sculpture made the monument one of the most visited in the Park. With the arrival of the Second Republic, while the nephew Manuel Domingo Larios was sent to the bottom of the sea, the uncle was hidden by a thick vine, while only the statue of the naked woman was visible. With the change of third, after the Civil War, the guardians of morality considered it too "realistic" and removed it from the way. (Source La Opinión de Málaga).
