Pyromorphite from Bad Ems, Germany

Pyromorphite, lead chlorophosphate, is a common mineral in the secondary (weathered) zone around lead deposits. It displays a variety of morphologies, but often forms clusters of green or brown hexagonal barrel-shaped crystals that are extremely distinctive and admired by collectors. There are many localities for the mineral, but among them Bad Ems, Germany is prominent for its exquisite crystal groups.
