A 1916 Dodge 4, (1916?). A man holds a door open for a woman. In 1903 the Dodge brothers equipped their bicycle and car parts plant to build engines for Ford in return for a 10% interest in the Ford Motor Company. In 1914 they formed their own company, Dodge Brothers Inc. When asked why they wanted to build their own cars John Dodge replied, 'Just think of all the Ford owners who will someday want an automobile'.
