Orig. bildtext...THE LAST TIME IT WAS USED THE PAPAL TRAIN it was in 1863, when the Pope Pius IX went to Velletri, a little country near Rome. Today the Saint Father John XXIII, early in the morning left the Vatican City, by train, to go to Loreta (near Ancona) and to Assisi. The Saint Father visited to the world famous christian sanctuaries to pray the Vergin before the beginning of the Ecumenical Council. The Pope travel is a great event: everywhere people applauded the Pope transit and great rejoings have welcome the Saint Father across the countries, touched by the papal train.
