Title: Cyril Garnham, British Parasitologist
Caption: Percy Cyril Claude Garnham (1901-1994) was a British biologist and parasitologist. He was the co-discoverer of the stage of malaria parasites which remains hidden in the liver from the time a patient is bitten by a mosquito until the blood is invaded. On his 90th birthday, he was called the "greatest living parasitologist." Garnham created the subgenus Vinckeia of Plasmodium to accommodate the mammalian parasites other than those infecting primates. In 1965, Garnham was awarded the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene's Manson Medal.
