Miami-Dade County Courthouse, Miami, Florida, USA, 1933. Artist: Unknown

Miami-Dade County Courthouse, Miami, Florida, USA, 1933. Vintage linen postcard showing a night view of the Dade County Courthouse and Miami City Hall, a building built in the Classical Revival style. When completed in 1928 the courthouse was the tallest building in Florida. It was designed by A Ten Eyck Brown and August Geiger. The top nine floors of the building used to contain jail cells. Because of the height they were considered to offer the maximum security and to be escape proof, but over the time that prisoners were kept there 70 managed to escape.
