Noria, Syria

A noria from the 1930s, in a Khabur River settlement in Syria. A noria is a device for lifting water into a small aqueduct, usually for irrigation. This waterwheel's rim is made up of a series of containers which lift water from the river to the aqueduct at the top of the wheel. Compare with an older noria in BX1060.
