Aerial view of Westminster, London, 2002. This picture shows the view from Charing Cross Road, past Trafalgar Square and Admiralty Arch, and along Whitehall to the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey. Edward the Confessor (1003-1066) moved his royal residence from an area in what is now the City of London, to Westminster in the mid-11th century. One thousand years later the commercial and administrative centres of London are still located in separate regions of the capital.
