Kenyan archaeologist and anthropologist Dr. Louis Leakey (1903-1972) and an assistant at work in Olduvai Gorge, Tanzania, Africa. Leakey helped to establish the field of paleoanthropology, which is the study of fossil hominds. He was married to British anthropologist and archaeologist Mary Leakey (1913-1996).
