Title: Magnetite streak test
Caption: Magnetite streak test. The streak test is used to determine the colour of a mineral in powdered form. It is done by scraping a specimen across a piece of unglazed porcelain known as a streak plate. Magnetite has a black streak. Magnetite is composed of iron oxide (Fe3O4, iron(II,III) oxide). It is a naturally-occurring ferromagnetic and can be magnetized to become a permanent magnet. Magnetite is an important ore of iron.
