Newspaper typesetting, Mexborough, South Yorkshire, 1959. Typesetters from the South Yorkshire Times composing pages for the newspaper. Wooden or metel blocks (called furniture) were used to wedge the type against the 'chase'. This could then be lifted and taken to the printing press. In the centre is Dick Ridyard, the sub-editor at the time.
