Metallic Sodium Reacts with Water

Sodium reacting with water. Chemical reaction between sodium (Na) metal and water (H2O). The reaction gives off hydrogen (H) gas and produces a solution of sodium hydroxide (NaOH), a strong base. The equation for this reaction is: 2Na + 2H20 ----> 2NaOH + H2.
