In the stands was Dan Crowley, Tigers scout, who was so impressed by Mitchell's action on the mound that after the game he came up with a contract, effective immediately. The young actor turned turned down the chance, to stick to his seven-year contract with MGM. he has a featured role as the Navigator in "High Barbaree," and now is working in "Cass Timberlane."
