The New Recorder - the Right Hon. J. A. Stuart-Wortley, M.P., 1850. James Archibald Stuart-Wortley '...has recently devoted his energies and eloquence to the much agitated question of "marriage with a deceased wife's sister." In the course of the past month Mr. Stuart-Wortley was chosen Recorder of the city of London, and has just entered on its judicial duties, for which his knowledge of law, his powers of oratory, and his upright and honourable character pre-eminently qualify him. He married, on the 6th of May, 1846, the Hon. Jane Lawley'. From "Illustrated London News", 1850.
