Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid), 12/21/1959. Ike Eisenhower, then president of the United States, arrived in Madrid for a short visit to our country. Franco met him at the airport of the Torrejón de Ardoz joint base, at the foot of the plane steps, to welcome him. His visit meant, in fact, international acceptance of his regime.
