A banknote of 5 000 Korean Won 1972-1977

The Bank of Korea started issuing these 5000 South Korean Won banknotes in 1972. They were withdrawn from circulation in 1977. On this 5000 won banknote from the Bank of Korea's 1972 issue is the image of Confucian scholar Yi I (1536 - 1584) philosopher, writer, and Confucian scholar of the Joseon Dynasty. Yi I is often referred to by his pen name Yulgok.
