Iran: The prophet Muhammad ascending to heaven on his miraj or miraculous journey, carried by the winged horse Buraq. Late 14th century from the Mongol Ilkhanid Era.

Generally the Prophet Muhammad is depicted with his face veiled, out of respect for his status as the seal of prophets. In the 14th century, during the Mongol Il-Khanid dynasty, however, the Prophet’s face is sometimes shown.
