PALMISTRY. Engraving of a drawing, made by the cartomancer Le Normand, of the hand of the Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. The engraving appeared in her Memoires historiques et secrets de l'Imperatrice Josephine, 1827. There is no real evidence that Le Normand even examined the hand of the Emperor from a palmistic point of view, though she wrote (allegedly after looking at the hand), 'There was revealed everything, even those marks which proclaimed him as hero and conqueror'. There is little indication that Le Norman knew anything about palmistry, and the diagram is little more than invented gibberish.
