Tropical Orchid (Cymbidiella rhodochila)

This tropical orchid, Cymbidiella rhodochila, is a highly specialized epiphyt that can be found only on Madagascar. This orchid lives exclusively on the stag-horn fern (Platycerium madagascariense), which being also an epiphyt grows exclusively on the tall trees of the species Albizza fastigata. This very complex interdependence explains why Cymbidiella rhodochila is such a rarity in its natural habitat in the upland rainforests of Madagascar.
