Title:
Borreby Skull
Caption:
Borreby Skull. The Races of Europe is a popular work of physical anthropology by Carleton S. Coon, 1939. The Caucasoid race is of dual origin consisting of Upper Paleolithic (mixture of Homo sapiens and Neanderthals) types and Mediterranean (purely Homo sapiens) types. According to Coons, the Borreby is a sapiens-Neanderthal hybrid that originated in North Africa, and came after the Pleistocene from North Africa, via Spain and into Northern Europe, probably in the early Neolithic. Image taken from Primitive Man by Louis Figuier, 1870 (cropped and cleaned).
