Miravalles II Geothermal Power Plant, Costa Rica. The Instituto Costarricence Electricidad (ICE) built the 55-megawatt Power Plant in 1999 near the base of the Miravalles Volcano, an andesitic stratovolcano in Costa Rica. The volcano erupted in 1946. Heavy heat flow remains, and it is the largest geothermal power field in the Central American nation.
