Caption: First World War (1914-1918). Latvia. Passport issued by the Ober Ost (1914-1919) to Kurzeme residents. All citizens of Kurzeme and Zemgale who had reached the age of 10 during the German occupation were issued an Ober Ost passport. The document included a photo, a unique identification number, fingerprints, and the code of the Ober Ost administrative region (Kurzeme: Ku). Each district created a file of all citizens with their respective passport numbers. Latvian War Museum. Riga.
