Mary Lou Williams, American Composer and Musician

Mary Lou Williams (1910 - 1981) was an African-American jazz pianist, composer, and arranger who recorded over 100 records. She was briefly a pianist for Duke Ellington's Orchestra and composed and did arrangements for Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey and Earl Hines. She befriend, helped and taught many young jazz musicians.
