Model of an Anemoscope, used to identify wind direction; based on a drawing by Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519), Italian artist and polymath; Codex Arundel folio 241 r. It consists of a wooden frame holding a vane rotating on a pin, with a round head at one end and a two-pronged tail at the other. As the vane turns, it shows the exact direction of the wind.
