'Milton's Burial-Place', 1897. The poet John Milton (1608-1674) was buried at the church of St Giles-without-Cripplegate in the City of London. It is one of the few medieval churches in the City to have survived the Great Fire of 1666. From Old and New London, Volume I, by Walter Thornbury.
