He is depicted seated, pointing slightly to the right and looking at the viewer. He is decked out on Sunday, wearing a top hat, an earthenware pipe with cap in the right hand, and a brass tobacco box in the left, seated on a masonry bench in front of a wall. The man is wearing brown pants and a gray jacket over a blue-gray smock, a brown-white neckerchief and a top hat.
