Nez Perce War, General Miles' Surprise Attack,1877

Entitled: General Miles making a a surprise attack upon the Nez Perce camp on the morning of September 30. The Nez Perce War (June - October 1877) pitted several bands of the Nez Perce tribe and their allies against the US Army. The conflict stemmed from the refusal of several bands of the Nez Perce to give up their ancestral lands in the Pacific Northwest and move to an Indian reservation in Idaho.
