Riversleigh Fossil Site, Australia

Fossil-bearing limestone rocks of the Riversleigh World Heritage fossil site, one of the world's most important mammalian fossil deposits, at the headwaters of the Nicholson River in northwest Queensland, Australia. The ruuged limestone outcrops, uplifted from former rainforest lake beds, have weathered to reveal skeletons of prehistoric marsupials, bats, turtles and many other animals from 25 million years ago. It is one of the few sites that records almost an entire ancient fauna.
