Jeremy Taylor (1613-1667)

Jeremy Taylor (1613-1667) English churchman. Graduated from Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge. Protégé of Archbishop William Laud and a chaplain to Charles I. In the English Civil War when Laud was impeached and executed for high treason, Taylor came under suspicion and between 1645 and 1657 he was imprisioned three times by the Parliamentarians.
