Title: Christmas Eve at Yapp's Crossing, 1918
Caption: Entitled: "Christmas eve at Yapp's Crossing" drawn by John B. Gruelle. Johnny Gruelle (December 24, 1880 - January 8, 1938) was an American artist, political cartoonist, children's book author and illustrator. He is known as the creator of Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy. He was a regular contributor to Judge, a weekly satirical magazine published in the United States from 1881 to 1947. Gruelle created a series of "bird's eye views" whose actions was centered at a crossroads he dubbed "Yapp's Crossing". On the storefronts and vehicles he incorporated names of friends, acquaintances, as well as local and national dignitaries. Front cover created for Judge published by Leslie-Judge Company, December 28, 1918.
