EUGENIO VELA (D. 1895). SPANISH ENGRAVER.. Juan de la Cruz Ignacio Moreno y Maisonnave (1817-1884). Spanish theologian, born in Guatemala City. Auditor of the Rota Tribunal of the Apostolic Nunciature to Spain in 1853. On 5 July 1875 he was appointed Archbishop of Toledo and Primate of Spain. He died in the early hours of 28 August 1884. Funeral of Cardinal Moreno. Passage of the funeral cortege through the Puerta del Sol (Gate of the Sun). The transfer of the coffin to the Estación de Delicias (Delicias railway station), to be taken to Toledo, took place on the morning of 1 September 1884. Engraving by Vela.
