The History of Temporal Letters , also called the "Primary Chronicle" or "Nestor's Chronicle") is the earliest of the extant ancient Russian chronicles of the early 12th century. Known for several editions and lists with minor deviations in the texts introduced by scribes. Was compiled in Kiev . Covers the period of history from biblical times in the introductory part and ending in the third edition in 1117. The dated part of the history of Kievan Rus begins in the summer of 6360 (852), the reign of the Byzantine emperor Michael III .
