VITTORIO EMANUELE of SAVOIA (March 14,1820-January 9,1878), then became King Vittorio Emanuele II of Sardinia and Italy; the eldest son of Carlo Alberto, Prince of Carignano of the cadet branch of Savoy-Carignano, born under the reign of Charles Emmanuel IV, the small fourth was in line of succession to the throne of Sardinia, after Vittorio Emanuele I and Carlo Felice of the main branch of Savoia, and after the father Carlo Alberto.
