Harlow monkey experiment

A photograph taken from Harry Harlow's experiments involving rhesus monkeys. Harlow examined how the monkeys interacted with various surrogate "mothers," in this case one made of terrycloth. Open Field Test number 2 - When cloth mother was introduced into the open field, infant who was reared with the substitute mother rushed immediately to the familiar reassurance of her lap.
