Statue of Menelaus supporting the body of Patroclus.

Statue of Menelaus supporting the body of Patroclus in the Loggia della Signoria, Florence, Italy. Now a statue of a man in armour supporting the dying nude body of his comrade, it originated as 2 headless torsos, but underwent extensive improvisatory restorations which altered the statue significantly. The nucleus of the sculpture was made in late 1st century AD as a Roman copy of a Hellenistic original. It underwent changes and adjustments regularly all the way until 1830.
