Title: Golden Silk Spiders
Caption: Golden silk spider (once Epeira clavipes, now Nephila clavipes), as illustrated by Carl Wilhelm Hahn in his Monographia Aranearum, also known as Monographie der Spinnen, in the 1820s. The spider on top is male, and the yellow one on the bottom is female. These spiders are not to scale; female golden silk spiders are much larger than the males. The sketch above the male shows the arrangement of the spider's eyes.
